Relay Connections for Parking Lights

+1 vote
I have a 2009 Patriot and I am trying to install a relay to get the Parking Lights to flash with remote start. I have seen two different connection setups and wanted to verfiy which one is correct:

1) Pin 85 - To EVO Brown/White wire

    Pin 86 - To a constant 12V, add a fuse of 10 amps

    Pin 87 - directly to Pin 86

Pin 30 - To vehicles parking light wire.

2) Pin 85 - To EVO

    Pin 86 - Pin 30

Pin 87 - To vehicles parking light wire

    Pin 30 - To 12V with fuse

Which one is correct?

Thanks!!

Technically i like the first one since you would be using pin 30 to go to your vehicles parking light wire.

But both would work.

Thought of a couple other things regarding this install:

1) Would it be ok to connect the 12V constant with fuse into the red (power) wire of the 4-pin Data Conn that is not used in the "C" install of the module?

2) What recommend minimum gauge wire for the 12V constant connection?

Thanks!!
14-16 guage wire should be enough for parking lights since they can pull anything from 6-15 Amps.

Do not tap into the red wire from the datalink connector to use a source for the parking lights. Make the connection directly on the vehicles wire
