T-Harness Jeep Grand Cherokee 2007 Plug Doesn't Fit

0 votes

Hello,

I received the remote starter today but when I went to install it I came across a problem. I took the cover off the area behind the steering wheel and there are two connectors plugged in behind/underneath. Neither of these connectors will fit into the t-harness. One is yellow and too small, the other is black and too big (too tall). I took some pictures and shared them at the link below too:

The Fortin box has a sticker which says EVO-CHRT5. The packet inside the box has a label which says THAR-CHR5.

The car is a 2007 Jeep Grand Chrokee 3.0 diesel. It's a right hand drive if that makes any difference.

Can you help please?

Thanks in advance!

Not looking in the right spot.

You're looking for the transponder harness.

The transponder harness is part of the ignition barrel.

The ignition barrel is where you stick your key to start the car.

Thanks Robb...that makes a lot of sense.

So I found the 20 pin connector where you said it would be, disconnected it and connected it to the t-harness. I connected the part I removed from the immobiliser into the receiving part of the t-harness.

Next I held down the black button on the Fortin box and connected the black 4 pin black plug from the t-harness to the Fortin box. The LEDs started to flash in sequence and I released the black button when the blue light was solid.

Next I connected the 20 pin connector to the Fortin box (this cable is not connected to anything, just bare ends). I connected a 6 pin red plug to the Fortin box (this cable goes to the t-harness) and a white 5 pin plug (this cable also goes to the t-harness).

According to the video I was watching (linked below) when I insert the key and switch to the On position, the LED should start to flash...but this didn't happen with mine. The blue LED just remained on solid.

Took all the cables out and started again but had the same result.

Any idea where I'm going wrong?

P.S. I flashed the Fortin with the supplied Flashlink prior to starting the job.

P.P.S. Just had a look at this diagram:

http://cdn.fortin.ca/download/28831/evo-all_evochrt5_p20160902-2.pdf

According to the diagram, it looks like the 20 pin connector with nothing attached i.e. the one supplied with the Fortin package, needs to be attached to something. The options are:

A1 Yellow - +Ignition
A8 Dk. Blue Hood pin
A13 Yellow/Black -Extenal Input
A14 Brown/White -Parking Light OUT
A18 Green/Red Do not connect in a Jeep Wrangler

D you know how many of these connections are actually required?
Thats a different car in the video. Programming of the module is the same but the installation requires more work. You should be following connection F in the installation guide. There are a few connections that need to be done for your setup.

Everything in connection F aside from pins A13 and A14 will need to be connected.
Thanks for all your help...I'm giving your replies and the wiring diagram to the guy who services the Jeep and I'll get him to do it.
